Lovund. Notable for the large puffin breeding colony located on the rocky north slope of the island as well as the active community and fishing industry. VALRYGG studio has been working on several projects on the island, and “Hildring Havn” is our latest design for a new boat harbour and housing area for the village.
The molo creates an inviting outdoor space, sheltered from the wind and open to the public. The end point of the molo grants an amazing view of both Træna further out in the sea, and in towards the massive mountains on the inland of Norway.
Pier, marina and housing
Approx. 1000 m2
The location has for many generations been an important part of the business community on the island, and today some of the authentic premises are kept, blending in together with the modern buildings to stand for a new area but with respect to the landscape and cultural history who set the premises for the community.
The name “Hildring” means mirage in Norwegian and we gave this name to the project as the houses sits on the horizon , were the continuous glass facade on the first floor will give the reflecting, glowing effect of a mirage, lifting the building up in the sunrise and sunset.
