Hamnholmen is a housing project located on the island of Lovund, Norway. Working with the island community in developing more housing, we saw the need for a public meeting place and the possibility to make the waterfront more attracting to people. The wooden amfi with stairs and ramps towards the water has become one of the most popular meeting places on the island. The place is hosting small festivals and gatherings, becoming also a perfect spot for a dip in the arctic summer days.

The houses are inspired by the traditional Nordlandshus. The dimensions of the houses are small, while keeping a comfortable layout. The houses are spread around the bay to sit naturally in the landscape, and the materials used for the project change according to the weather and seasons developing a beautiful patina over time.
