The project wants to honor the heritage of these buildings and we have kept the old architectural details throughout the project. The old windows have been restored and the old stairs are kept. VALRYGG studio created the name for the hotel; Aperon, which reflects in a ludic way the history of the site.
The Suhrs Seminarium and Household School, which was founded in 1901 by Ingeborg Suhr. It particularly concerned women of the better bourgeoisie. Today, the school is called Suhrs Højskole and is open to everyone.
The hotel project is a synergy between the historic and the current context – giving new life to the square. Aperon hotel is hosting its visitors with a warm Scandinavian feel as well as a contemporary urban atmosphere.
The soon to be open rooftop terrace is designed as a plaza with a greenhouse and will be overlooking the courtyard and the round tower.
The contemporary and urban feel brought into the interior design meets a mix between the Scandinavia and Central European style. The guests can experience a welcoming atmosphere together with a colour palette that lighten up the spaces.
The hotel consist of 25 apartments, all of them with a fully functional kitchen. The ground floor will consist of a Restaurant and a historic courtyard. Both soon to be open to hotel guests and visitors.
VALRYGG studio have also worked on the visual profile, interior and styling for the hotel as well as the customized art.
